Our Story

The Walker Funeral Group was founded by David and Melissa Walker, who started their Funeral Journey when they purchased Bernard Laverty Funerals in 1996. David is from a long family line of funeral directors and grew up helping his father and grandfather in the business. Melissa was an English teacher, who married into the funeral industry and is also a trained florist. They have 3 sons Harry, Dominic and Joseph.

After starting out at Macksville NSW, they bought their second business in the Sydney market in 2002, Albert and Meyer Funerals. Since these early days they have grown considerably, puchasing a number of long established businesses, the oldest dating back to the 1880s. They now own and operate a number of Funeral Homes across Australia.

David and Melissa are involved within their communities and feel that the families they serve should be cared for by companies that hold quality funeral service delivery at the core of what they do. They promote Traditional values to all of the businesses within their group. Knowing that they get to personally serve many client families is what motivates them to lead their organisation and provide quality funeral services of which they can always be proud.
